Special Initiative: Weeks of service

As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.

Service Focus Weeks

  • MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING:  October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
  • HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
  • ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day

Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

As part of World Diabetes Day activities, a diabetic retinopathy screening camp was conducted by Lion Dr Pranav Budkule and his team. A total of 60 diabetic patients underwent retinal evaluation during the camp. All patients received education on the importance of regular eye screening in diabetes. Counselling included guidance on early detection, prevention of vision loss, and need for annual check-ups. Among the screened individuals, 10 patients were found to have signs of diabetic retinopathy. These patients were promptly referred to an ophthalmologist for further evaluation and management.
