Special Initiative: Weeks of service
As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.
Service Focus Weeks
- MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING: October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
- HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
- ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day
Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

ATTENDED LION CLUB OF SIRSI. Serving of Ready Meals to Pilgrims – Sirsi Marikamba Jatra
The Lions Club of Sirsi served ready meals to pilgrims during the sacred Sirsi Marikamba Jatra Festival on Friday, 27-02-2026. More than 1,200 elderly, aged, and economically weaker pilgrims benefited from this service. The food menu included Pulav, Kesari Bath, and Buttermilk, which was served to devotees visiting the festival. The 8-day Marikamba Jatra, dedicated to Goddess Marikamba of Sirsi, is held once every two years and attracts thousands of pilgrims. The Lions Club of Sirsi has been continuing this noble tradition of serving food to pilgrims for one day during every Jatra, and this service has now been carried out consistently for the last six Jatras. This year’s food service was generously sponsored by Lion Gururaj, Club President, and Lion Ashok Hegde, District GLT Coordinator. I had the privilege of attending this meaningful service activity, which reflects the true spirit of Lions in serving humanity.

ATTENDED LIONS CLUB SIRSI. Distribution of Cold Drinks, Buttermilk and Drinking Water to Pilgrims
During the sacred Marikamba Jatra in Sirsi, the Lions Club organised the distribution of cold drinks, buttermilk, and drinking water to pilgrims at Ashwini Circle, Gouri Fuels, in the centre of the city. This service activity is a signature initiative of the club during every Jatra day. The Sirsi Marikamba Jatra, held once every two years, attracts thousands of devotees. The Lions Club of Sirsi utilises this occasion to render humanitarian service by helping pilgrims relieve their thirst during the festival. On average, more than 2,000 pilgrims benefited each day, and the service was provided throughout all 8 days of the Jatra festival, reaching a large number of devotees. This initiative reflects the Lions’ commitment to community service and compassionate care for the public during major religious gatherings.
