As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.

Service Focus Weeks

  • MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING:  October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
  • HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
  • ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day

Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

Zone chairperson official visit cum General body meeting

On 16th August 25 , Lions club of Vasco da Gama successfully conducted their Zone chairperson official visit to the club. Zone chairperson Lion Arnaldo basilio do Rego appreciated the club for services activities conducted till date and also gave suggestions on how to make reporting in perfect way. ZC sir also informed the club about various programs planned ahead by the district and motivated us to participate in future. Club thanked him For all the Advise and suggestions put forward.

Occasion of Independence Day fancy dress competition for children- topic Patriotic hereos

On the occasion of Independence Day Lions club of Vasco da Gama conducted a fancy dress competition for the students of our adopted primary Government school, Chicalim, Goa. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition. Winners and participated students will be given prizes in the coming weeks. The judge for the competition was JCI member Lion Anjali Sunil Loran.

Celebration of 79th Independence day

Lions Club of Vasco da Gama celebrated 79th Independence Day at our adopted primary government school, Chicalim Goa. The President of Lions club of Vasco da Gama hoisted the flag followed by a cultural program organised by the School. Senior Lion member and Past President Lion Jashwinder gave a patriotic speech and motivated the children. Total 35 students participated. The function was graced by Lion members, parents , JCI member, cubs and school staff. Region chairperson MJF Lion Premanand Kerkar was also present for the function. Snacks was distributed to the children.

Provision of nutritious food to Pregnant and dilivered mothers

Lions club of Vasco da Gama visited Sub district hospital ( cottage hospital) Chicalim, the Antenatal ward and maternity ward as world breastfeeding week was on from 1st -7th August. Talk was given to pregnant ladies on importance of breast feeding after dilivery and how healthy it is to the new born baby. We also distributed nutritious food to the pregnant and dilivered ladies. 60 people were served. Nutritious food included Ragi laddoos, fruits and dry fruit bars . Fruits were sponsored by Project chairperson Lion Vanshika Rane and President Lion Shilpa Pacharane. Region chairperson MJF Lion Premanand Kerkar, zone chairperson Lion Arnaldo de Rego , Urban health centre Vasco -Health department incharge Mrs. Karishma kerkar and other Lion members were present.

15th Aug independence day was celebrated by LC Cortalim at GPS , Quelossim. As ZC i had the opportunity to hoist the flag .GPS staff , parents, Lions Memebers and Media were avaialble during the same . Spoke on the importance of 15th Aug and what for the children way forward .

Master Allan 5 years old boy urgent Medical support

Master Allan was hospitalized at GMC with cardiac arrest and was in Coma. He was airlifted to Aster Hospital at Cochin for treated . He had multiple organ failures . He was in ventilator. The expenses for the same was very very exorbitant. His parents requested for financial assistance through a drive via friend and known person s. I got contacted via a comman friend and I requested Rotary Charitable Trust porvorim to support the boy and through my recommendation they released 1 lac rs as per . It was big relief for the parents as they were accepting any denomination money for their child's recovery. Attached reference received from child's father as per . Master Allan is improving and his latest update is attached and he still in need of financial assistance .
