Special Initiative: Weeks of service

As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.

Service Focus Weeks

  • MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING:  October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
  • HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
  • ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day

Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

Free Eye Check Up and Free Eye Surgery

The Lions Club of Gadag Betgeri organized Activity–08: Free Eye Checkup and Free Eye Surgery Camp on 20 February 2026, in association with IMA Gadag and Jayapriya Hospital, Hubli. The program aimed to provide free eye screening and medical support to the community, especially for senior citizens and people from economically weaker sections. A large number of people from Gadag and nearby areas attended the camp and underwent eye examinations conducted by experienced doctors and medical staff. Lions members actively coordinated the registration and screening process to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the camp. During the screening, patients with eye problems were identified and given proper medical advice. A total of 32 patients were selected and provided with free eye surgeries, which were arranged in collaboration with Jayapriya Hospital, Hubli. This initiative helped many individuals regain their vision and improve their quality of life. The camp received great appreciation from the public for bringing essential eye care services to the community. Through this meaningful service activity, the Lions Club of Gadag Betgeri once again demonstrated its dedication to community health and humanitarian service. #EyeDonation #GiftOfSight 👁️
