These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.

Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

School Vision Screening Program
Lions Club of Bicholim & Lions Club of Aldona JOINT SERVICE PROJECT REPORT Event Title: School Vision Screening Program Venue: Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarkari School, Bicholim Organized By: Lions Club of Bicholim in association with Lions Club of Aldona 1. Introduction Driven by the global Lions mission to preserve sight, the Lions Club of Bicholim, together with the Lions Club of Aldona, organized an extensive eye screening initiative at Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarkari School, Bicholim. This project focused on the early detection of visual disorders in children, specifically targeting conditions like Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) that often remain undetected without professional intervention. 2. Screening Methodology The team utilized a Plus Optix Hand Held Machine (imported from Germany) to conduct the screenings. This advanced, non-invasive technology provides rapid and reliable results, categorizing students as either “Pass” or “Refer” for further specialized evaluation. 3. Key Statistics Total Students Screened: 500+ Location: Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarkari School, Bicholim premises Target Group: School students 4. Observations and Outcomes Referral Process: Any student receiving a “Refer” result was issued a refractive measurement printout to facilitate follow-up care with their parents. End-to-End Care: In line with our club's commitment to providing a “start to end” solution, we are coordinating follow-up consultations with professional ophthalmologists for all referred students as part of our next project phase. 5. Conclusion The screening of over 400 students at Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarkari School, Bicholim marks another successful milestone in our joint efforts to safeguard the vision of our community's youth. We remain dedicated to ensuring every “Refer” student receives the necessary clinical evaluation and treatment.

National Road Safety Month – 2026
As part of National Road Safety Month 2026, a road safety awareness talk was successfully conducted on 28th January 2026 by the Director of Transport, Bicholim. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Lions Club of Bicholim and the Leo Club of Bicholim. The event was held at Zantye Hall, Bicholim, and featured an informative talk on road safety delivered by Mr. Shivanand Pednekar. During the session, the speaker explained the importance of road safety, traffic rules, and responsible driving practices, emphasizing the role of drivers in preventing accidents and saving lives. The programme witnessed the active participation of more than 50 participants, including taxi owners, pilots (motorcycle taxi operators), and rickshaw owners. The presence of these stakeholders was especially significant, as they play a vital role in spreading awareness and setting an example of safe road behavior among the general public. The session was interactive and informative, helping participants gain better understanding of road safety measures and encouraging them to contribute towards creating safer roads. The program concluded with a collective appeal to follow traffic rules and promote road safety awareness in the community.

National Road Safety Month 2026, Road Safety Awareness Rally
ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS RALLY As part of the nationwide observance of National Road Safety Month 2026, a dedicated Road Safety Awareness Rally was successfully conducted in Bicholim on Tuesday, 27th January 2026. The event was organized by the Office of the Assistant Director of Transport, Bicholim, in active collaboration with the Lions Club of Bicholim and the Leo Club of Bicholim. The primary objective of the rally was to sensitize the local community about traffic rules and to propagate the 2026 national theme: "Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha" (Road Safety, Life Protection). Awareness Drive: Participants marched through the key areas of Bicholim town carrying placards and banners with slogans emphasizing the importance of: Wearing high-quality helmets (for both riders and pillions). Fastening seatbelts in four-wheelers. Adhering to speed limits and avoiding mobile use while driving. Respecting pedestrian rights at zebra crossings. Key Observations The collaboration between the Transport Department and the Lions/Leo fraternity proved highly effective. The visual impact of the rally drew the attention of commuters and pedestrians alike. Informative leaflets/pamphlets regarding traffic fines and safety tips were also distributed to the public during the rally. Conclusion The event concluded at Bicholim with a closing address by the Lions Club President and the Transport Official, who thanked all participants for their time and civic spirit. The rally successfully reinforced the message that road safety is a shared responsibility. The Lions Club of Bicholim remains committed to supporting such administrative initiatives that safeguard the lives of our citizens.

Introduction In our continued commitment to the global Lions cause of "Vision," the Lions Club of Bicholim, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Aldona, conducted a comprehensive eye screening camp at Radha Krishna School. The project aimed to detect early-stage visual disorders, such as Amblyopia (Lazy Eye), which often go unnoticed in school-going children. 2. Screening Methodology The screening was performed using the Plus Optix Hand Held Machine (imported from Germany). This non-invasive, highly accurate device allows for rapid testing, providing an immediate result of either “Pass” or “Refer.” ### 3. Key Statistics Total Students Screened: 300+ Location: Radha Krishna School premises. Target Group: Primary and Secondary students. Observations and Outcomes Students who received a “Refer” result were provided with a refractive measurement printout to be shared with their parents. Parents were advised to consult a professional ophthalmologist for further clinical evaluation and treatment. For the same we are working as our next project. So we can give start to end solution. The project successfully raised awareness among teachers and students regarding the importance of regular eye check-ups to prevent permanent visual impairment.

On January 11, 2026, the Lion's Club of Bicholim, alongside the Leo's Club of Bicholim, organized a heartfelt event to honor the legacy of the late Lion Siddesh Amonkar. The Lion's Republic Run, brought together 650 participants in a vibrant display of community spirit and dedication. This inspiring event not only celebrated the memory of Lion Siddesh Amonkar but also encouraged fitness, unity, and service. Participants of all ages joined together, embodying the values of perseverance and camaraderie, while paying tribute to a beloved leader whose impact continues to resonate in the community.

Lion’s Republic Run 2026: T-Shirt Launch Ceremony Held in Grand Presence The promotion of Lion’s Republic Run 2026 officially commenced with the grand unveiling of the event T-shirts at Hirabai Zantye Hall on 6th January 2026. The T-shirts were ceremoniously revealed by the Honorable MLA Lion Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, marking an important milestone in the run-up to the much-anticipated event. The occasion witnessed the enthusiastic presence of media reporters and prominent social media influencers, who extended strong support to the initiative and helped amplify its message across multiple platforms.
