As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.

  • MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING:  October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
  • HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
  • ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day

Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

VISION

Today being Thursday weekly Eye checkup camp at our Lions medical center Dr Mayur Kulkarni Sir from MMJE hospital examined 26 beneficiaries out of which 12 beneficiaries were reffered for cataract operations. RBS and BP checkup was done by Yavagal Shambhu to19 beneficiaries. 👍👍 WE SERVE. 🙏🙏🙏

Consumer awareness on Foods and drugs.

LC Avedem Paroda organised program on "Consumer Awareness on Food and Drugs". The Program was held in the Shree Sateri Temple Sabhagraha in Assolda. Mrs. Shweta Dessai, Director Food and Drugs Administration, Govt of Goa was the chief guest. Around 55 people including lions were present. The program started by lighting the traditional lamp. The object of the program was to make people aware of the various issues related to food and Drugs, it's availability, safety,Govt monitoring, price control, expiry, manufacturing and supply, Checks and various rules and regulations about food and Drugs of the Government. President of the club lion Shakuntala Raut Dessai welcomed the gathering. Lion Nevil Alphonso introduced the CG. RC Lion Dharmu Raut Dessai also addressed the gathering. Treasurer Lion Shreenath Kamat, DC Lion Balkrishna,Mrs Janice Alphonso of KVK South Goa were present for the function. Lion Sanjay Gauns Dessai proposed vote of Thanks. Lion Nilesh Raut Dessai was the project Chairman. The Program was well appreciated by all present.

Workshop on Grow at Home

A workshop on “Grow at Home” was organised by the Lions Club of Avedem–Paroda in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (South Goa), Directorate of Agriculture, Margao, Goa, on Saturday, 21 March 2026 at the KVK Hall, Margao. The programme began with a short inaugural function. Lion Shakuntala Raut Dessai, President of the Lions Club of Avedem–Paroda, welcomed the gathering. Lion Dharmu Raut Dessai, Region Chairperson (Region II, District 317-B), and Shri Shivram Naik Gaonkar, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK South Goa, addressed the participants and appreciated the initiative to promote home gardening. The workshop was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. The objective of the workshop was to encourage families to grow at least a part of their food at home, thereby promoting healthy eating habits, household nutrition, and self-reliance. During the full day workshop, participants were trained in several practical techniques of home gardening, including: * Growing sprouts, microgreens, and baby greens. * Gardening in pots for vegetables, flowers, and fruits. * Proper watering techniques for healthy plant growth. * Organic management of pests and diseases. * Growing fruit plants at home. The technical sessions were conducted by Nevil Alphonso, Former Director of Agriculture, Goa, and Janice Alphonso, the Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) of KVK South Goa, who served as resource persons for the programme. A total of 45 participants, including members from various Lions Clubs of Region II, District 317-B, attended the full-day workshop and actively participated in the practical demonstrations and discussions. Mrs. Janice Alphonso of KVK South Goa proposed the vote of thanks, while Lion Nevil Alphonso compered the inaugural function.
